COMPUTER CLASSES - ADULTS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS
Computer instruction on current business application software is provided both individually and in classes. Internet access is available to enhance skills and to conduct job searches. Individuals participate in the training to learn computer skills and increase their software literacy. The computer stations are designed to accommodate individuals with physical disabilities. Computers are equipped for use by individuals who are visually impaired, including a JAWS word processing program that reads back to the writer what he or she has written. Transportation assistance is available to and from the Van Dorn Metro Station to the Center located on Edsall Road.

Organization Description: The Laurie Mitchell Employment Center (LMEC) was established as a consumer-operated drop-in center in 1995 by a group of people with mental health issues who wanted to support other people in their situation with increased opportunities for socialization and potential employment in the competitive marketplace.
